Objective: Effective Team & Stakeholder Management techniques to shift the perspective from individual contributor to people manager

Target: New Managers, People with recent (1-3 years) or upcoming team responsibilities, and team leaders aiming to develop effective team and stakeholder management skills

Format: 2.5 days with two days intensive (four 3.5-hour group modules) and one 3 hr online case study session after two weeks. The participants will work on a case study for 2-3 hr two weeks after the intensive.

According to CEB (2017) report, around 60% of new managers fail in their first two years of placement. The shift from an individual contributor to a people manager requires a transformational shift in the mindset. As a manager, one needs to become a people connector for the team, a strategic partner for stakeholders, and a self-aware value-driven individual, to create a whole bigger than the sum of its parts.

The certificate program consists of four 3.5-hour modules (2 days intensive) and a half-day online case study session after two weeks. The modules include:

  • Knowing Self & Knowing Others (DISC) to tailor task allocation and communication according to different personality types
  • Designing Interactions & Feedback to tactically set up team environment and give & receive constructive feedback
  • Engaging & Nudging Stakeholders to strategically design stakeholder maps and nudge people in a non-invasive way
  • Cultivating Service Excellence to embed service-oriented mindset in our actions & decisions while setting boundaries

Day 1 - Building High-Performing Teams

Module 1: Knowing Self & Knowing Others (DISC) (09.00-12.30)

Understanding & communicating to diverse personalities create a safe environment. To know others, know yourselves first. Learn to:

  • Understand high performing team's levers
  • Determine your own personality style
  • Allocate tasks and communicate based upon personality

Module 2: Designing Interactions & Feedback (14.00-17.30)

Business is never a solo activity. Managing teams and nurturing relations are integral parts of success. Learn to:

  • Design team interactions for a clear and dependable team environment
  • "Give & receive" constructive feedback
  • Communicate big picture to teams

Case Study Overview (17.30-18.00)

Day 2 - Service-Oriented Stakeholder Management

Module 3: Engaging & Nudging Stakeholders (09.00-12.30)

Like a community, an engaged stakeholder network can multiply your influence. Learn to:

  • Map emerging stakeholder landscape as a widening web of relationships
  • Use an interest-influence matrix to inform an engagement strategy and approach
  • Nudge relations for shared success

Module 4: Cultivating Service Excellence (14.00 - 17.30)

Service excellence is about delivering  value while navigating stakeholder's motives and emotions. Learn to:

  • Embed service-oriented mindset
  • Understand stakeholder's needs and deepen relation using active listening & silence
  • Navigate difficult discussions, set boundaries

Wrap-up (17.30-18.00)

The modules are conducted in English and are limited to 20 participants to facilitate interactions and connections. Please note that other participants can join for specific modules of the program.
