Program Overview

Embark on a transformative journey with CIIS Core Faculty, Helge Osterhold, through an immersive one-week exploration into the life and work of Carl Gustav Jung. This unique summer school program, taking place in the scenic city of Zurich, will provide an unparalleled opportunity to study the profound and enduring impact of Jung's ideas on psychology.

Educational Objectives

• In-depth Study: Dive into the essential themes of Jung’s extensive writings, exploring his contributions to psychology, such as the collective unconscious, archetypes, and the process of individuation.
• Hands-On Experience: Apply Jungian concepts through practical exercises, including dream analysis and active imagination techniques, to foster personal insight and psychological growth.
• Historical Context: Gain a historical perspective by visiting key locations that influenced Jung’s work and personal life, enhancing your understanding of his developmental environment.

Course Highlights

• Academic Sessions: Led by an expert in Jungian studies, the academic component will feature interactive lectures and discussion groups.
• Experiential Workshops: Engage directly with Jungian techniques to explore your own unconscious and develop a deeper understanding of self.
• Cultural Visits: Tour Jung’s home in Küsnacht, the prestigious Jung Institute, and other historically significant sites.

Program Costs

• Tuition: CHF 2250
• Additional Expenses (not included): Includes flights, hotel accommodations, meals, local transportation, and entrance fees for site visits. If you are an international student, we can help you with hotel recommendations, along with an invitation letter for visa processing.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Jungian Studies by MQ Learning Academy, acknowledging their deepened understanding and personal engagement with Jungian psychology.

Faculty:

Dr. Helge Osterhold is a psychotherapist and integrative educator. Teaching graduate-level psychology courses since 2006, he joined CIIS’s core faculty in 2017. He offers courses in Jungian Psychology, Archetypal Psychology, Dreamwork, Spiritual Counseling, and the Psychology of Death and Dying. Dr. Osterhold’s theoretical and clinical orientation includes depth, transpersonal and humanistic-existential psychologies with a special appreciation for systemic thinking, indigenous wisdom, and multiculturalism.

For 10 years, Dr. Osterhold served at the University of California San Francisco - in pediatric palliative care and as an educator and program director on mindful caregiving and clinician resiliency at UCSF Children's Hospital and faculty at UCSF School of Medicine. Originally from Germany, he pursued higher education in California, earning a B.A. in Human Relations, M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology, and Ph.D. in East West Psychology.  He is a licensed psychotherapist and maintains a depth-oriented private psychotherapy practice with a focus on life transitions.
