Our session, "The Ethics of Gita," offers a deep dive into one of the most revered and influential texts in Indian philosophy. The Bhagavad Gita, often called the Gita, forms a part of the epic Mahabharata and is presented as a dialogue between Prince Arjuna and Lord Krishna on the battlefield. Set against the backdrop of an impending war between cousins, Arjuna is torn by moral dilemma and despair at the thought of fighting and potentially killing his kin. In this crucial moment, Krishna imparts wisdom that transcends the immediacy of the battlefield, offering guidance on ethics, duty, and the path to fulfillment.
The Gita is unique not only for its setting but also for its comprehensive encapsulation of Indian philosophy. It addresses key concepts such as dharma (duty/ethics), karma (action and its consequences), and yoga (the path to spiritual realization), all woven into a compelling narrative. This short but profound text provides insights into the essence of Indian thought, emphasizing the importance of righteousness and the moral responsibilities that come with one's role in society.
In our session, we will explore the ethical teachings of the Gita, understanding how it has shaped the moral and cultural fabric of Indian society. This session is ideal for anyone interested in understanding the ethical dimensions of Indian philosophy, as well as for those seeking to gain insights into one of the most important spiritual texts of all time. Join us for an exploration of the Gita's timeless wisdom and its practical applications in the modern world.
Limited seats; reserve early! We would request a suggested donation of CHF 20-25 for the space.
