Event: Communities for a Meaningful Life
Time & Location
Herman Melville said, "We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow humans." Our relationships with our fellow humans not only satisfy our human need of being a social animal but also manifest new societal structures & cultures through creating communities. Through collective participation in these communities, we re-shape our individual lives.
In this MQ event, we will explore this theme with Johanna (from Impact Hub) and Martin (from ZurichRetreat) by discussing various questions like Why do communities exists? How can we choose the community we want to be part of? What is the impact of community in our individual lives and broader society? In the end, we will do a short workshop on community building with our guest experts.
Johanna Scheurer has a background in design strategy, branding, and trend and now brings in her experience of community building to the Impact Hub Zurich. She is passionate about collaborative approaches and loves participative happenings. Growing up in a big patchwork family (8 siblings), she was inspired by the spirit of communities since very early in her life.
Martin Hohn has a background in international hospitality management but changed tracks after a burnout, which lead him to reinvent his life in a more holistic and purpose-driven way and since three years founding of the ZurichRetreat project. He has lived and visited many different forms of communities and related projects all over the world from ecovillages, ashrams to burning man.
